John Skiba
Managing Attorney
John Skiba founded Arizona Consumer Law Group and serves as its managing attorney. For more than 20 years, he has helped individuals and families break free from the crushing burden of debt—especially through the powerful relief of bankruptcy. Through his practice and online education, he has helped clients eliminate or avoid paying hundreds of millions of dollars in debt, often stopping lawsuits in their tracks, protecting homes, and restoring peace of mind.
John grew up in Utah and earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology, with a minor in Psychology, from Brigham Young University, where he played on the BYU football team as an offensive lineman.
He went on to the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where he discovered his passion for bankruptcy law while studying under Bruce Markell, a former bankruptcy judge and nationally recognized bankruptcy scholar. During law school, he also served as an extern for a bankruptcy judge in the District of Nevada.
Just 18 months after graduating from law school, John opened his own practice, which has grown into Arizona Consumer Law Group, with offices in Chandler and Phoenix. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona, is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.
Known to more than 80,000 YouTube subscribers as the Consumer Warrior, John has taught thousands of people how to defend themselves against aggressive creditors and debt collectors. He also created CaseDefender, an online tool that helps people who are sued by a debt collector prepare an Answer to the lawsuit.
John and his wife have six children. In his free time, he loves going boating and spending time with his family.
